There is something a little refreshing about couples who dare to go outside the box and be a little more adventurous with their wedding colours as alternatives to pink and whites tones. Autumn is classically a spectrum of natural ochres from yellow to browns. It may take some convincing trying to sell a more adventurous wedding colour palette to your bridal party, but if you are wanting a unique wedding then your colour palette is a great place to start.
I loved the colour palette that we coordinated for Indako and Adam for their wedding at Bendooley Estate. Traditional autumn colours of cremes, oranges with subtle green and blue hints to offset the tones. Stunning. The ceremony space was set to life with an amazing hanging installation courtesy of Mikarla Bauer of greenery and little pops of orange colour.

I love Natasha and Geoffrey’s preppy colour palette they put together for their wedding we coordinated at Bathers Pavilion. This palette would be perfect for an autumn wedding. The cool pops of blue were very much in keeping with this very popular beach side venue, and the mustards and green tones really illicit a sense of warmth that we tend to associate with autumn weddings.

Another beautiful beach side ceremony and reception we coordinated for Clare and Gus at Bronte Surf Club. The blues and purple tones were stunning for this ocean side location. Who wouldn’t love a bit of blue hydrangea they used in their floral arrangements, so soft and romantic. The use of generous amounts of greenery throughout the foliage and creme floral accents were touches that gave it a less preppy and more classic feeling.

A lovely little wedding for Monique and Stuart in Balmain we helped with. This event saw us do a little bit of wedding styling, set up, hire and wedding day coordination. I am still really in love with the way Monique’s bridal party embraced the cooler air with their vests and coats. But more than that, I love that they were able to integrate some more typical wedding colours like pinks, as well as intertwine them with dustier greys and blues. Very adorable couple, and who doesn’t love a groom with style.

It is lovely to be involved in planning an autumn wedding, there is something very refreshing about not having to watch your guests sweat it out in the full afternoon heat at an outdoor wedding ceremony. Not to mention – it’s also a great chance to explore the many venues which are fabulous and unique, but aren’t purpose built wedding venues (without air conditioning). Don’t be tempted to play it safe with your autumn wedding colours, embrace the change in weather and be brave enough to do something a little different.
