Dunbar House is a refurbished Georgian mansion managed by the Grand Pacific Group seating up to 150 in the main dining room. You may recognise other venues in their family like Sergeants Mess, QVB Tearooms and Gunners Barracks. The thing that I love about the Grand Pacific Group is that no matter which venue you visit, you are guaranteed great service, and wonderful food. It’s always a great experience to return to Dunbar House. We never have any issues here. Nothing is ever a problem and our team always feel very respected and part of their larger virtual team, really the key to produce a successful wedding.

Dunbar House is surrounded by some great spaces to do the official stuff. There of course is Robertson Park directly in front of the property under the beautiful big old tree with views to the foreshore. Robertson Park have recently refurbished this space with wedding ceremonies in mind, and it looks fantastic. Gibson’s Beach (although VERY popular with the locals on a hot day) is also a stones throw. If you are looking for a religious ceremony, St Peter’s Anglican Church is a short trip. And for the Catholics there is Our Lady Star of the Sea within a very easy walking distance. If you happen to have a military background, you might also be considering the chapel at HMAS Watson – an easy drive. Or you might pass on Watson’s Bay all together for your ceremony and use the local wharf to ferry your guests from the city or nearby Darling Point.

The only major consideration worth mentioning is that is shares the same challenges of other venues in the area: parking can be extremely difficult during especially during the warmer days. I always suggest padding in additional time to park. There is a loading dock for the venue but really only space for one or two vehicles, so this should be taken into consideration for any elaborate set ups as well. It’s worth the effort once you are in the space. Sipping your champagne from the top floor balcony and admiring the sunset on a balmy night is really something special.
