It was an important date full of twists and turns indeed, but a wedding so unique.
COVID lockdowns were hard for everyone. A few false starts of opening back up had left everyone in a state of limbo. However, after a long process and with our NSW border open we were finally able to produce and style this fabulously vibrant wedding last December at the Gili Rooftop, Taronga Zoo.
Planning the wedding and finalising the style brief was a great experience. It’s not every day that your client tells you they want to go really bright with their colour palette, but that’s exactly what Harleen and Jarrod did. Such a fun brief to work on, and a refreshing change from very neutral wedding tones.
There was an added challenge of trying to source such brightly-coloured decor. Along with rolls of fabric, we special ordered bright chair cushions just for the event. After much searching, we used a few different suppliers to meet the unique colour palette and design brief. Once this was done, we made sure the subtle differences in colour worked well together, so that everything was on point for the big day.
On the day of the wedding, yet another challenge presented itself. Storms were forecast for the late afternoon, and the chuppah once set up, would be impossible to move.
After many frantic phone calls that morning, and a Groom who was very determined to bring their outdoor ceremony to life, we decided to take the chance. We said a few prayers, hoping that the storm would only hit after our ceremony was over.
The Bedeken finally commenced at the N’Galawa Terrace – after so much preparation, a religious conversion, a date change, and a pandemic. Following the veiling of the bride, our outdoor Jewish wedding ceremony took place on the beautifully decorated Gili rooftop. It looked like a colourful wonderland – full of bright pops of dahlia and hydrangea. Speeches, live music, socialising, and delicious food and drinks followed, calling for a lovely celebration to wind down after the enjoyable wedding ceremony.
Oh, and the dreaded weather?
Someone must have been listening to all the prayers because although the wind came in, we managed to make it through with the ceremony outdoors.
Needless to say, we had one extremely thrilled couple and a very memorable event.
