Before it produced 150 million sovereigns, The Mint used to serve as a hospital for convicts from 1816. The striking historical architecture of this space makes the most stunning backdrop when it comes to wedding portraiture. If the idea of getting married in what is now Sydney’s oldest surviving public building, then take a closer look at the Mint.
The Mint is a versatile venue that allows you to host your ceremony and reception all at the same location. Ceremonies usually take place on the lawn within their internal courtyard. And if it rains, there are options to move your ceremony indoors.

The Gold Melting Room is the place where the fun happens afterwards. Although if you feel brave and you prefer to host your event outdoors, then their internal courtyard will do the trick. The Gold Melting room is a contemporary addition to The Mint and suitable for around 100 guests to sit down. Sydney Living Museums have more recently appointed a new team – Pearl Catering, to look after their hospitality. With plenty of experience behind them, the food and beverage is impeccable and will not disappoint.

One of my favourite features of the space are the motorised glass panes off The Gold Melting room which allow a flow of fresh air, and access to the sandstone courtyard.
