I never thought I’d be writing a blog post about this, but here it is. Bloody COVID-19! I’ve missed working events so much, ahh the adrenaline, the aching feet, the 20,000 steps and my fellow event pals. Being at home is not a holiday, as I face off my laundry and a pile of jobs I promised myself I would get on top of while things were quiet on the weekends. However the one thing that grates on me more than anything at home. “Muuuum, what’s for dinner?”
So checking my work box today, and sustaining the appetites of my crazy brood, I’ve started a list of my favourite venues in Sydney of those offering home delivery and dinners to go. I still need to figure out how the 6 and 7 year olds will receive some of my menu choices. But I am well ready to send them to bed hungry! What I’m reading so far, this all looks so delicious. If you are shopping around for a wedding venue in Sydney, this is such a unique opportunity to sample their wares and support not just their venues but their very precious staff. And if you are just after some damn good food, look no further.
So my homework due on Monday is to plan ahead and sort out the meal plan for the week. It officially will be the second week of school holidays, and I don’t plan on going down without a fight! Keep an eye out for photos to come. I’d love to hear from you, have you ordered meals from a wedding venue / restaurant? Send me your ideas!
1. Grand Pacific Group
(The Tea Room, Gunners Barracks, Sergeants Mess, Dunbar House, The Blue Room)
Menu: Order Here
Orders by 5PM for next day delivery. Delivery via Yes Chef available Tuesday to Saturday
Serving mains, sides and desserts. I’ll admit, my eye when straight to the dessert section. The pecan pie with maple cream. Yum. But may be more sensible to eat the slow cooked beef first with the Dutch cream potato mash & mixed green veg. And because I was probably Irish in a former life, and I am vouching for the potato gratin, I’ll order one of those too. They do a mean gratin.
I really love that the order process is all online and seems pretty straight forward. I won’t have to go to the effort to call in an order over the phone. Using a delivery service makes them more flexible to more postcodes, and there’s no need to leave the house. Lets face it, sometimes it can be trying to part with your ugg boots at the front door.

2. Bathers’ Pavilion
Menu: View menu here, call to order on 8350 5873
Note, Bathers’ do not deliver. But you can either collect from the Kiosk, or pull into the drive way and they’ll bring it directly to your car. It’s a bit of a hassle to collect, but if you’re like me and needing an excuse to get out of the house into your car, this could be it. Orders from 12pm – 6.45pm. Orders must be placed by 2pm with pick up from 4pm – 6pm.
Their at home menu, is mighty impressive. I’m not surprised you have to collect it yourself. They are serving up, single meals, family meals, sides, and desserts. But what I love about their menu is that you can also pick up pizza dough (if you’d like to finish off the job at home). I’m thinking that is an awesome boredom relief activity for the rest of the fam. Plus they are also offering birthday cakes, wine and pantry staples is you fancy the house made granola for breakfast. Any time I have eaten at Bathers’ the seafood and pasta has always won my heart. It’s going to be hard to deviate from that.

3. ZEST Waterfront Venues
The Beach House Point Piper, The Boathouse at The Spit
Menu: Order Here
Their menu is advertised at just a little more than their cost price to keep staff working and non-eligible, unemployed casuals supplied with free meals. Orders within 10-15km of Point Piper, and lower-mid North Shore. Typically delivered to your door 1-5 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. Allow at least 48 hours.
I had a very memorable event at ZEST, it was for the lovely Sarah and Andrew. It was an all vegan wedding, super tough brief to keep your vegans well impressed, and keep the non-vegans happy too. ZEST knocked it out of the park with some of the flavours in their curry. So I’m thinking that’s where my money is. Having said that, the chicken broth soup with pearl barley if we have our fireplace is on, will be the clear winner. Both to be safe.
It’s worth mentioning once more, I love that ZEST have committed to serving affordable dinners to keep things running, and more importantly to keep their ineligible and now unemployed staff fed. Hearts.

4. Catalina
Menu: Order Here
Available Monday to Sunday from 12PM until 9PM, last orders at 8.30PM for pick up or home delivery. Delivery areas include Rose Bay, Double Bay, Point Piper, Bellevue Hill, Dover Heights Vaucluse, Woollahra, Edgecliff, Dover Heights. A $15 delivery fee applies per order. Allow a minimum of up to 45 minutes for pick; minimum 60 minutes for home delivery.
Although Catalina is advising you to order well ahead to make things faster and easier, it seems you can pretty much order same day and don’t have to plan well in advance for your meal. Love that.
Out of all the menus, this one is so typically Catalina. Love it. They really haven’t compromised on the menu at all, offering starters, mains, desserts, sides and salads. Wine and takeaway cocktails also on offer. Yes! They too will also whip up a birthday cake at your whim. But if I’m honest, it’s the cheese I’m looking at, and the oysters. Anyone who has ever known a wedding at Catalina will tell you just how good their oyster bar is. The end.
