Wedding Planners are definitely not for everyone. If you have time to plan your wedding, then it can be the biggest personal challenge you’ll probably ever set yourself! Couples considering hiring a wedding planner are usually so busy in the personal lives, families and careers that there is not much time left to think about (or do) anything else. Hiring a wedding planner doesn’t have to take the fun out of being involved in creating your own event, it just means that you’ve hired someone else to DO all the “stuff” that needs to be done. I use the term “stuff” because there is no other way to really put into words how many phone calls / emails / follow ups / and contracts you’ll need to review and sign. It’s a much better planning experience if the couple gets to throw out the ideas for a team of wedding planners to implement and maybe even enhance.
But My Venue Is Supplying A Wedding Planner
It’s a little bit irksome when venues state on their packages that they supply a wedding planner. And this is not by any means a reflection of the venue managers that they hire. But is the wedding planner that they supply really planning your whole entire wedding? Or are they just there on the day of the event to make sure everything is set up, and that the key vendors have arrived? These are the questions you need to ask your venue, as usually the scope of their wedding planners is a very limited and small one.
What Sort Of Things Will My Wedding Planner Do?
A Wedding Planner is there to do exactly that. Plan the event in the entirety of the scope in the lead up to the wedding day (the scope is agreed to before commencement of work). You may decide that you only need our help with planning the wedding on a few different things. This may be to just plan the ceremony or just plan a reception. Or on the other hand, you might just decide to hand over the whole event to us. This is called end to end planning / full service planning, and our specialty. We do fully appreciate that hosting a wedding is probably one of the most expensive events you are likely to throw. Consulting with a professional who knows exactly what you should expect and in which areas you are best to invest your money is invaluable. Sourcing the right suppliers for the right price is the most overlooked challenge that couples will waste money on.
