Circa 1876 Weddings. Love. Circa 1876 is an award winning restaurant a brisk stroll from The Convent in the Hunter Valley (formerly Peppers Convent). Located in the historic cottage on Roscrea Estate, the restaurant prides itself on farm to fork ingredients with an impressive local wine list for its diners to enjoy. Circa 1876 has a hat under it sleeve and presents good value when compared to it’s Sydney awarded counterparts for quality and service.
I always think venues like this one sparkle during winter. It’s not because the restaurant has an oh-so-inviting fire place at one end of the room. Or because of the quaint little private room it has (The Champagne Lounge) also with its own roaring fire place and sitting area (perfect for the bridal party hors d’oeuvres). Gosh who knows, but Circa 1876 weddings has a great feeling best appreciated with a fully bodied red wine. How very appropriate! A few steps outside the restaurant leads you not only to the kitchen garden, but a canopy of trees greets you which naturally create the perfect aisle for the wedding party. If your wedding is small, they can host your ceremony in wet weather in the venue’s onsite chapel. Wet weather back up plans are always a good idea, as anyone in this industry will tell you.
The best features aside from the awesome fireplaces it boasts, would be the exposed beams running the length of the room, creating solid framework for whatever your heart desires. Lighting, flowers and greenery, or draping of garlands all would work, and can be easily installed.
