Are you looking for a Sydney city wedding reception location within close distance to the Royal Botanic Gardens with the convenience of parking nearby? Hyde Park Barracks is a great venue for your short list. Set back from Macquarie Street in Queens Square, aside from setting up inside the Royal Botanic Gardens; it is probably the most convenient city location for a marquee event. On the flip side if you’re looking to host a smaller event, The Bakehouse Kitchen and Bar Store is also a great option for smaller weddings and parties.
If you’re considering a marquee event for your wedding, planning an event like this tend to require much more work (and anxiety). Having said that, because you are setting up your event space from scratch no two events are ever the same. Hyde Park Barracks makes planning your marquee wedding so much less of a headache. Included in the hire is a venue representative, security, bathrooms for boys and girls, and power. While you do need to bring your own marquee, the usual headaches that you can have with planning a ground up event are a little more manageable. If you have a large guest list, just book a larger marquee. As guest lists have a way of inflating over time, this can be very convenient. The backdrop of the world heritage listed Barracks, makes the property so unique and the perfect canvas to install ambient uplighting adding another dimension to your event.
For smaller events, the Bakehouse Kitchen and Bar Store is the perfect space. Anyone booking a smaller wedding will know how challenging it can be to source a venue that’s yours exclusively. The Bakehouse can seat up to 100 guests, however using the upper section as a potential stage for your musicians, it leaves the lower level for smaller groups without feeling like you have to try to decorate empty spaces. The fireplace during winter can also fill up the space so magically on a chilly day.
Our tips for this venue? Don’t scrimp on the venue hire period. Allow enough time for your suppliers to bump in and out over a few days.
